Nick-
You do not have to disclose that record. There is not a public record of that incident. Even the federal government has limitations, and cannot get something that doesn't exist. It was a juvenille shoplifting charge that was not adjudicated in a court, and therefore does not become a public record. It doesn't matter if it was sealed, because technically, it doesn't exist.

I work for the post office. I am also a RCA, the position you are applying for. I would definitely list it, unless it has been expunged. Security checks are done, and rules are tighter now than when I was hired. It is better to list it, than have them discover it later. The thinking is, if they stole and lied about it, you would lie and steal from them. Good luck.

OK I was not trying to be employed with USPS but I was trying for a government job and they asked the same question. I was very young and i had a misdemeanor sense it was my first and only offense it was expunged they let me go with community service. But when I applied I had the same ? But I didn't tell them I figured sense i was a minor it didn't matter and it didn't I mainly think they are worried about felony and things like that but honestly since you were stealing something I dout you that will look good. But like I said you were a minor I don't think they will go back past 10 years. Sorry if I didn't help. Thought i would share my story! GOOD LUCK!

I would contact human resources for USPS. Although, I was looking for a link to give you or a telephone number, its not as easy as it sounds.

I worked for the IRS, and I know that you really have to disclose that stuff. Now since you were 15 it is very unlikely it will affect you but not answering that correctly will get you fired if you are hired no matter what. If you were charged as an adult and convicted of a misdemeanor then you have to put it. Make sure you were charged in non juvenile court.

I have the same problem. I was arrested when I was 16, and every now and then, a question is phrased that I have to admit to it.

Can you get it expunged?

I suggest not saying anything and if they catch you, they catch you. Either way, if they find out, they'll not hire you.
